(Our Process)

Everything You Want to Know Before You Reach Out.

Answers to the questions we hear most — about our process, pricing, timelines, and how working with Motex actually feels.

How does the project process work from start to finish?

We work in four clear phases: Deep Discovery (kick-off, brief, mood board), Creative Concept (script, storyboard, styleframes), Full Production (design, animation, sound), and Final Delivery (all formats, all platforms). Each phase ends with your approval before we move forward — so there are no surprises and nothing gets built without your sign-off.

You’ll have a dedicated project lead who is your single point of contact from kick-off to delivery. They coordinate the internal team — animators, designers, and sound designers — so you never have to chase multiple people. For larger productions, a creative director also joins key review sessions.

Every project includes two revision rounds during the Production phase — one at rough cut stage and one at final cut stage. Additional revisions beyond that are billed at an hourly rate agreed upon upfront. We’ve found that two rounds is almost always enough when the Concept phase is done properly, which is why we invest heavily in that stage.

Not much. The more prepared you are, the faster we move — but we’re used to starting from scratch. Helpful to have: brand guidelines or logo files, reference videos you admire, a rough idea of the message you want to communicate, and your timeline. We’ll help you clarify everything else in the kick-off call.

How much does a motion graphics or 3D animation project cost?

Every project is scoped individually based on complexity, length, and type of animation. A short explainer video typically starts at $3,500. A full 3D product launch film starts at $12,000. Brand motion systems are quoted separately. We don’t publish fixed prices because the variables matter — but we’re always transparent and provide a detailed quote before any work begins.

We work on a 50/50 payment structure for most projects: 50% upfront to begin, and 50% upon final delivery. For larger productions over $20,000, we offer a 40/30/30 milestone-based structure. All payments are invoiced and can be made via bank transfer or credit card. We work in USD, EUR, and GBP.

Yes — clients who commit to ongoing retainer arrangements or multi-project packages receive preferential rates. We value long-term creative partnerships and reflect that in how we price them. If you have multiple projects in mind or anticipate ongoing motion needs, mention it upfront and we’ll structure a proposal that works for both sides.

Yes, every project starts with a signed contract. It covers: scope of work, timeline, payment schedule, revision policy, ownership of final assets, and confidentiality. Full intellectual property ownership transfers to you upon final payment. We also offer NDA agreements for clients who require them — just request it before kick-off.

How long does a typical project take?

A standard explainer video (60–90 seconds) takes 3–4 weeks from kick-off to delivery. A full 3D production or brand film takes 6–10 weeks depending on complexity. Rush projects are possible with a 25% expedite fee, subject to availability. We always agree on the timeline before signing, and we hold to it.

We recommend reaching out at least 4–6 weeks before your desired start date. Our production slots fill up quickly, especially in Q4 and around major product launch seasons. If you have a firm deadline — a conference, product launch, or campaign date — tell us upfront and we’ll work backward from it to see what’s possible.

Delays on our end are rare — but if they happen, we communicate early and adjust at no extra cost. Delays caused by late client feedback or scope changes may push the timeline accordingly. We build buffer time into every project plan and flag risks early so neither side is caught off guard at the deadline.

Yes, subject to current availability. Rush projects are defined as any project requiring delivery in less than half the standard timeline. They carry a 25% expedite fee to prioritize your project in the queue and extend working hours as needed. Contact us directly t

What if I don't have a script or concept ready?

That’s completely fine — and actually common. Most of our best projects started with nothing more than a vague idea or a business problem. Our Creative Concept phase exists exactly for this. We work with you to develop the script, narrative, and visual direction from scratch. You bring the goal; we bring the creative engine.

You have full approval authority at every phase — nothing moves forward without your sign-off. That said, we’re a creative studio, not an execution service. We bring our own point of view and sometimes push back when we believe a direction isn’t serving your goals. Our best work comes from collaboration, not just compliance.

Absolutely. If you have an established brand guide, motion style, or existing video assets, we study them carefully and ensure everything we create feels like a natural extension of your identity. If you’re building a motion identity for the first time, we develop one with you from scratch during the Creative Concept phase.

Yes — sound design and music selection are included in all production packages. We work with a library of licensed music tracks and can also commission original compositions for larger productions. Voiceover (in-house or through vetted talent) is an optional add-on. All audio delivered alongside video in separate stems if needed.

What file formats will I receive at delivery?

Standard delivery includes: MP4 (H.264, web-ready), MOV (ProRes, broadcast-ready), GIF (web), and WebM (for web embedding). We also provide platform-specific cuts — vertical (9:16), square (1:1), and horizontal (16:9) — at no extra cost. If you need additional formats or specs, just tell us in the brief.

Source files (After Effects, Cinema 4D, Blender, etc.) are available as an add-on at an additional fee. This is because source files require significant time to organize and document for handoff. If you anticipate needing to edit the files internally or with another vendor in the future, let us know upfront and we’ll include it in the quote.

Yes. We know the technical specs for every major platform — YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Meta Ads, website embedding, and broadcast. All deliverables are exported to platform spec without you having to ask. If you’re running paid ads, we can also provide multiple cut lengths (15s, 30s, 60s) optimized for your campaign goals.

Yes — over 40% of our clients are outside the US. We’ve worked with brands across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. All project communication is async-friendly via shared project management tools, with scheduled video calls at mutually convenient times. Language barrier? We have team members who communicate in English, Spanish, and German.
